Sustainably Beautiful

Jennifer Dawes creates jewelry rooted in transparency, sustainability, ethics, and artisanal elegance. Her award-winning designs combine master craftsmanship with traceable, responsible materials—bringing purity of intention to each exquisite piece.

A leader in the green jewelry movement since 2005, Jennifer was among the first designers to demand full transparency in sourcing. Having served on the board of Ethical Metalsmiths since its inception, she has helped shape a more ethical and responsible industry.

“When you’re creating talismanic objects imbued with sentiment and meaning, you have to take it to the next level— using materials free from questionable origins,” she says. Jennifer received the prestigious Spectrum Award for her cutting-edge designs and mine-to-market philosophy. Her Sustainably Beautiful collection embodies this vision, featuring ethically sourced diamonds, traceable gemstones, and 100% recycled metals—jewelry that’s both beautiful and meaningful.

Recycled Materials

Jennifer Dawes Design uses recycled metals through Umicore—one of the world’s largest and most respected recycling companies. Ranked #1 on the Global 100 Most Sustainable Companies Index, Umicore is a trusted partner in Jennifer’s ongoing commitment to ethics and environmental responsibility.

Stones

Jennifer Dawes Design sources stones from a select group of trusted vendors. We’re proud to work with some of the most respected suppliers of ethically mined and recycled gemstones.

Studio Practices

At Jennifer Dawes Design, our culture is rooted in continually seeking cleaner and better ways to work. We use solar for our heating and water solutions, natural lighting, non-toxic cleaning agents, recycled paper and soy-based printing. We intentionally work with companies with similar philosophies. Every decision considers environmental and humanitarian impact. We employ local artisans and buy materials and supplies from local and U.S.-owned businesses.

Community of Ethical Jewelry

Since 2005, Jennifer Dawes has championed sustainability in the jewelry industry, partnering with organizations committed to responsible practices. Community of Ethical Jewelry, formally know as Ethical Metalsmiths is a community of jewelers, designers, suppliers, and buyers dedicated to ethical, transparent, and environmentally sound practices from mine-to-market.

Jennifer joined in 2014 as part of the Futuring Committee, which redefined the mission and helped establish Ethical Metalsmiths as an independent nonprofit with its first official board.

She has served on the board since 2014, with a brief break in 2023. “Seeing this organization grow into a community of professionals that demand better practices within the jewelry industry has been incredibly rewarding,” she says.
